JAKARTA: Yamaha dominated domestic sport motorcycle sales market during Q1/2012.
"The total sport motorcycle market during the first quarter reached 241,421 units," said Yamaha Indonesia Marketing and Motorsport General Manager Eka Prabowo in Jakarta, today.
"while Yamaha sales reached 139,583 units and dominated 57.8% market share."
According to Eko, Yamaha's dominance in sport segment was driven by stable growth in Yamaha V-Ixion sales.
"This is best-selling model in the sport class, Yamaha V-Ixion sales in April rose 10% from 22,886 units in March to 25,097 units. In addition to V-Ixion, Byson contributed 11,975 units and Scorpio reached 1,111 units," he explained.
Eko further stated that V-Ixion contributed 88,221 units or 63.2% of Yamaha total sales, while Byson contributed 47,200 units (33.8%) and Scorpio reached 4,720 units (3%).
Meanwhile, the motorsport market distribution in April dropped 11.53% to 59,743 units compared to 67,527 units in March. Suzuki experienced the largest decline as much as 65.1% from 2,160 units in March to 745 units. (Antara/T07/faa)
