JAKARTA: PT Wijaya Karya Beton, a subsidiary of PT Wijaya Karya Tbk, set IDR150 billion to construct new concrete plant in East Kalimantan.
The fund is included land acquisition not too far from the sea, as the concrete raw materials like rock and sand, will be sent via sea from Java and Sulawesi, said Wika Beton Director Bambang Legowo.
“We are looking for the ideal location in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan,” he told to Bisnis today.
With the new plant, concrete production capacity is expected to increase to 2 million ton from 1.85 million ton per year. The plant in Balikpapan will produce pre-stress concrete.
The company currently has 8 concrete plants where two in Sumatra, 5 in Java and one in Sulawesi. The construction in East Kalimantan is due to big infrastructure construction potential in the region.
With around 7 months construction period, the plant is expected to operate in 2013. (T05/aph)
