JAKARTA: State-owned constructor PT Waskita Karya and Kajima Corporation are forming a consortium to participate in a mass rapid transportation project that connects Lebak Bulud and Bunderan HI.

Kajima Corporation will control 60% of working portion, thus financing needs, with Waskita taking up the remaining 40%.

After passing the pre-qualification round, the management now starts preparing a tender document including project value offered, said PT Waskita Karya President Director M. Choliq.

“After the tender has been carried out, the signing contract can be realized in September 2012,” he said.

Before the start of the construction process, several works would be prepared such as the widening of Fatmawati Road as well as translocation of utilities, stadium, and Lebak Bulus bus terminal.

He said Waskita’s involvement in the project was attributable to its vast experience in road constructions, particularly in Jakarta. In addition, it has a sound financial performance.

Previously, the state-owned constructor had consorted with Kajima for the construction project of access toll road of Tanjung Priok E-2 Section for Cilincing-Jampea route with 2.74 kilometers length and contract value at IDR1.08 trillion.

Meanwhile, the document tender process is still waiting for approval from Japan International Cooperation Agency, said PT MRT Jakarta President Director Tribudi Rahardja.

Nevertheless, it is targeted to be realized in the end of December or at least early January 2012.

In addition, they are also a consortium of SMCC with Hutama Karya, Taisei with PT PP, and Tokyu with Adhi Karya.

Then, for underground method, 8 consortiums that have passed the pre-qualification process are a consortium of Hazama with Murinda Iron Steel, Hazama with Murinda Iron Steel, Kajima with Waskita Karya, SMCC with Nindya Karya, Sumitomo with Adhi Karya, Tqaisei with PT PP, Tekken with Hutama Karya and Marubeni, Tokyu with Wijaya Karya, and Zenitaka with JFEE.
