DEPOK: Rector of University of Indonesia and President Director of PT Pertamina today launched Science Laboratory Building & Multi-Discipline of UI-Pertamina at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in Depok Campus of University of Indonesia.
This 5-story building was built in stages in 2010. The construction development was funded by Community Social Responsibility Program of PT Pertamina (Persero). The first phase development consists of Bio Processing Lab, Genome & Bio Informatics Research room, Bio Molecular Lab, Cultur Collection room, supporting room, staff room, meeting room, and toilet.
While second phase will be implemented in 2012 on a total area of 1,600 square meters, and phase III will be in 2013 on an area of 1,600 square feet.
Building area of 4,000 m2 has become a symbol of the effort of the industry and university to jointly build a world-class education in order to prepare the world class infrastructure.
"The construction of the laboratory building is expected to increase the motivation of academic society in University of Indonesia to generate good quality research and develop this nation," said Rector of UI, Prof. Dr. der Soz. Gumilar Rusliwa Somantri in a press release today.
Building Planning which stands on an area of one hectare began with the design competition in September 2010. The competition was won by Sonny Sutanto Architect Team. Furthermore, according to Presidential Decree No. 80/2003, the contractor procurement process lasted for two months from October to November 2010. The contractor of this building is PT Pembangunan Perumahan (PP). (T03/msw)
