JAKARTA—The Special Unit of Upstream Oil and Gas (SKK Migasis ) targeting oil production from new fields in 2013 reached 27,000 barrels per day (bpd).
The Head of SKK Migas Rudi Rubiandini said there will be around 22 oil fields will start their initial production, during this year. Later, the 22 projects the oil field will produce around 27,000 barrels of oil per day.
Based on SKK Migas data, the 22 fields consist of 11 that are planned to be onstream in 2013. Those fields include Anoa, Duri Area 13, Gundih, Letang Tengah Rawa, Pondok Makmur Phase-1, Ruby, TO-388, TO-39, TO-40, TO-54, and the South Mahakam.
While the remaining fields were earlier planned to be onstream in 2012, however, they are retreated to 2013. The eight fields include Tonga, Jetty Project, Ridho-1, Rindu Area 7, Wells Blue Tiung-1St, Budi, Duri Area 12, and Duri Area 8 Rindu. "The total production from the onstream fields reached 25,000 bpd," said Rudi, Monday (2/4).
Furthermore, two of them are from advanced dewatering projects (EOR) at Rantau and Talang Jimar with a total production of 700 bpd, and one accelerated project, Banyu Urip, around of 1,250 barrels.
Of the 22 fields, the South Mahakan (operated by Total E&P) average oil production in 2013 is estimated at 13,000 barrels per day. While, Duri Area 8 Rindu will be around 2,370 barrels, Banyu Urip is projected at 1,250 barrels, 1,500 barrels TO-388, TO-54 1,380 barrels, 1,130 barrels 39th and 40th 1,000 barrels.
According to Rudi, if only relying on existing field production by assuming a 5% decline, the 2013 production will stand only at 803,000 bpd. However, with an additional of 27,000 bpd, the 2013 production is expected to reach 830,000 bpd. SKK Migas is targeting oil production in 2013 only at the range of 830,000 bpd to 850,000 bpd.
Observers of the ReforMiner Energy Institute Pri Rakhmanto said the national upstream oil and gas industry in a state of emergency, due to continual decline in oil production.
Oil production is currently only stood at around 836,000 bpd and will continue to fall throughout the year in the range of 83,0000-85,0000 bpd. Therefore, the government needs to optimize oil and gas fields that exist today.
"What happened today is the fruit of the upstream oil and gas governance erroneous and we hold continuously, so that the investment climate for exploration activities to be very interesting," he explained.
According to him, although this time found a large field with reserves, the results of the new production will be seen most quickly the next five years. In fact, until now there has been no discovery of any other reserves. (11/dpr/tw)
