JAKARTA: Former Commander of Operational Command for the Restoration of Security and Order (Pangkopkamtib) in Indonesia Armed Forces (Retiree) Sudomo passed away in the age of 86 years today, Wednesday, April 18th 2012, at 10.00 am in Pondok Indah Hospital, South Jakarta.
Former Manpower Minister in New Order Era was hospitalized in Pondok Indah, for allegedly suffered cerebral hemorrhage.
According to information from the hospital, Sunday, April 15, 2012 Sudomo who also had served as coordinating minister for politics and security in the era of President Soeharto had been hospitalized since Saturday, April 14th.
Sudomo was born on September 20, 1926 in Malang, East Java. He was a Navy chief in 1969-1973 and also served as Commander of Operational Command for the Restoration of Security and Order (Pangkopkamtib) 1978-1983.
Sudomo was known as a strong and dedicated figure who was able to handle a national conflicts in peaceful way. In those days, the intelligence system of Indonesia was colored by the solid leadership of the Sudomo, LB Moerdani, and Yoga Soegama.(Antara/T03/aph)
