JAKARTA: Indonesia Young Entrepreneurs Association (Hipmi) projects turnover of small and medium scale enterprises to significantly soar by 200%-300% during this year’s fasting month and Eid ul Fitr.
Apparently only particular small and medium scale entrepreneurs record 300% growth, said Hipmi Head of Trade Bureau, Harry Warganegara.
“The rise of turnover before, during and after Eid ul Fitr is varied. Yet, the growth in average is relatively significant compared to the regular period,” he told the press, today.
Trade and service sectors still serve as the main contributors to such rise as the number of consumers significantly increase during this holiday season. For instance, small and medium scale enterprises in automotive sector have recorded turnover growth even seven days ahead Eid ul Fitr.
“The turnover of motorcycle service has soared up to 100% seven days before Eid ul Fitr. After the holiday, it grew further above 100% as the motorcycle used during holiday travel requires particular maintenance.”
According to Harry, the high consumption during holiday also boosted the turnover of small and medium enterprises focusing on mini market franchise. Based on Hipmi’s monitoring, the turnover of minimarket increased two and three folds per month.
“The average turnover of mini market might reach IDR400 million per month, rises IDR800 million to above IDR1 billion per month during the fasting month and Eid ul Fitr ,” said Harry Warganegara.
Harry, the candidate of Hipmi chairman for 2011-2014, said that total turnover of small and medium enterprises focusing on mini market franchise is barely minor as it potentially reach IDR90 trillion per year, derived from more than 10,000 outlets. (t02/ags)
