JAKARTA: Chairman of Democratic Party Board of Trustee Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said the party’s image declines due to intense reporting of corruption case conducted by some of its cadre.
He questioned the motive behind such intense reporting toward his party, creating an impression that Democratic Party is the most corrupted party in Indonesia.
In fact, he added, the party was ranked in fifth place or 3.9% from the total corruption in the parliament, which is conducted by five big parties in the period of 2004-2012.
SBY considered such intense reporting toward Democratic Party as unfair treatment since other parties are actually more corrupt and didn’t receive intense reporting like his party.
“Is it fair? Yes, it’s not fair. Other parties are more corrupt but they didn’t receive intense reporting like Democrat,” he said in the party’s forum held in Sahid Hotel Jakarta on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. (T06/aph)
