JAKARTA: Pertamina EP’s oil production reached 135,500 barrels per day on May 21, 2012 supported by existing fields.
Pertamina EP oil production has increased since mid-May 2012. The increase of oil production was supported by existing fields including additional production from Prabumulih field of more than 4,500 barrel oil per day (BOPD) and Bunyu field more than (3,100 BOPD), citing the press release from Executive Agency for Upstream Oil and Gas (BP Migas) published today, May 24, 2012, on its website.
President Director of Pertamina EP Syamsu Alam explained that the company made a number of efforts to optimize production at the existing fields.
Pertamina EP’s oil and gas production optimization was achieved through various efforts, including acceleration of drilling on the focus area, zero discharge, fract PACT to address the sand problem, reactivation of old wells in existing fields, consistent pressure maintenance program, optimization, production facilities replacement program and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR).
In addition to these efforts, Pertamina EP also run the further depletion project of the phase using water injection method resulted additional production of more than 14,000 barrels per day. (T03/TW)
