JAKARTA: Bank Indonesia claimed only 45.1 households in Indonesia have access to loans in financial institutions and the remainder is recorded as the financial excluded.
Yunita Resmi Sari, Deputy Director of Financial System Stability Group at Bank Indonesia (BI) said as many as 54.9 households in Indonesia do not have loan in financial institutions.
This is a result of the household balance survey conducted by Bank Indonesia in 2011.
"Only 45.1% households in Indonesia has an access to loan and of that number only 19.58% have an access to bank loans," he said Thursday (19/7/2012).
Indonesian household access to a bank has increased compared to 2010 which recorded only 18.21%.
Yunita said Indonesian people with high income generally make more loans than low-income communities. And, most low-income people borrow loans from non financial institutions. "The people with medium and high-income mostly propose loans to banks," he said. (T03/aph)
