JAKARTA: France automotive principal PSA Peugeot Citroen will continue talking about the plan to construct car assembling plant in Indonesia, which is previously delayed due to economic crisis in Europe.
Such plan is aimed to turn Indonesia as Peugeot’s main production base behind China, India, and Malaysia. It will also develop supporting industry like component, machine and equipment as well as car accessories, which could increase local component and reduce import.
The investment value for processing facility is predicted to reach US$150 million, according to CEO PT Astra International Tbk-Peugeot Constantinus Herlijoso on the sideline Peugeot 107 launching ceremony on Wednesday, May 30, 2012.
Such processing plant could also make the price of Peugeot products more competitive by 15%-20%. Indonesian market is still attractive, particularly segment for multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), sport utility vehicle (SUV), cross-over, and city car. (T06/TW)
