JAKARTA: A number of investment managers eye mid and small-cap share indices as the benchmark of their mutual fund.
CIMB Principal Asset Management is currently preparing one new mid-small cap-based mutual fund product, said Head of Investment Fadlud Imansyah. The new product will complete its previous products namely Reksa Dana CIMB-Principal Index IDX30.
"Mid-cap indices have higher risk but the return is high as well," he said on Sunday (7/29/2012).
Problems faced by fund managers during the last 2 years are a share-based mutual fund performance that is always under Jakarta Composite Index performance.
"After close study, we found lot of mid-cap shares have the potential to grow but they have never been considered for equity-based mutual funds."
Furthermore, equity-based mutual funds only stresses on blue chip shares investment which grow tend to stable. Mid-cap-based product will be released in QIII. (T05/aph)
