LONDON: The union representing maintenance workers for London's subway network says its members will strike next week over pensions and benefits.
The Rail, Maritime and Transport Union said Tuesday a 24-hour walk out will start at 4 p.m. on April 24.
The union represents about 1,000 staff providing a number of services — including maintaining and upgrading lines — on the London network, known as the Tube.
RMTU officials said the strike will have a "widespread" impact on Tube services across London.
Transport for London said it will aim to run as many services as it can on the day of the strike.(AP/aph)
