JAKARTA: Indonesia has not yet aware on the financial understanding compared other countries in Asia, a survey says.
The survey entitled Barometer Global Financial Literacy 2012 is done by Visa on 28 countries in Asia.
President Director of PT Visa Worldwide Indonesia Ellyana Fuad said Indonesia is on 26th position.
"We are conducting a survey to know how big the financial understanding in Indonesia, and it is still very low," he said at the launching of a financial site, namely www.praticalmoneyskills.co.id, Tuesday (5/6).
The survey also revealed that most of parents in Indonesia are rarely talk about financial topics with their children. In a e year, averagely financial discussions among families are only 5.5 days.
"This clearly shows that there is urgent need to prepare the young generation of Indonesia with the financial management of basic skills," he explained.
Through Visa Financial Literacy characterized by Visa's new site, he hopes to be able to provide a better understanding of financial management, budgeting, saving, borrowing and responsible spending in among young people in Indonesia. (T03/aph)
