JAKARTA: PT Hyundai Mobil Indonesia keeps convincing Hyundai Motor Company as the principal to build assembling plant in Indonesia in order to boost sales in domestic and Asean markets.
Hyundai's market potency in Indonesia is expected to reach 6,500 units by 2012, while the marketing in ASEAN is in the range 60,000-70,000 units per year and may continue to increase since the market potency will reach 3 million units per year.
Yongkie Sugiharto, President Director of Hyundai Mobil Indonesia, said that with government support, especially the Ministry of Industry and Commerce Ministry, it had approached the principal of Hyundai in South Korea to reveal the potential of local and regional markets.
"We have been assisted by the government which has repeatedly assured Hyundai to invest in Indonesia, but until now we have not yet received a response without any apparent reason," he said on Monday (8/13/2012).
According to him, Hyundai Motor Company Indonesia actually knows great market potency in Indonesia as it can be seen from the consumer's willingness to wait until 3-4 months to buy a Hyundai car.
Consumers are willing to wait long enough for the supply of Hyundai car from South Korea which is still limited. Quota for Hyundai Motor Indonesia is only 200 units per month, while market demand reaches 300-400 units per month.
Yongkie said the low supplay of Hyundai car is caused by the limited production capacity of Hyundai plant, while its production is distributed to many countries. (T03/msw)
