JAKARTA: Government assures the implementation of Governmental Decree on tobacco will not harm cigarette industry.
The finalization of safeguarding of tobacco products as addictive substance for health decree does not ban the sales of tobacco products, said Coordinating Ministry on Social Welfare Agung Laksono.
On the contrast, the draft allows seller of tobacco products to sell in specific places and will not disadvantage the industry.
After studying it since 2010, the government has agreed on a number of key points of the future regulation.
The point is each pack of cigarettes must include either a written or an image warning as big as 40% on each side.
Next, tobacco products advertisement must not show the real product and outdoor advertising or outdoor media is limited to a maximum of 72 m2.
And when in public area, government frees smokers to smoke in certain rooms. (T05)
