JAKARTA: Ministry of Industry is ready to prepare 3,000 ha or 5,000 ha of land in Karawang, West Java for developing Japan industry in Indonesia.
"Some Japanese electronics, machinery, and automotive companies keen to expand by building a factory in Karawang, West Java. Government is trying to find an area of 5,000 hectares with adequate infrastructure," said Minister of Industry M.S. Hidayat in the opening exhibition of cultural heritage batik in Jakarta today (24/7/2012).
Hidayat said, it needs good preparation because investors do not want to use the Tanjung Priok port as their destination port.
"The government is preparing the construction of infrastructure such as roads, electricity supply and gas supply by means of telecommunication. In addition, the government will build a port in Karawang," he said as cited by Antara.
For electricity supply in West Java Industry Area, we do not have problems and we support the production process.
"Throughout the region of West Java, electricity supply is not a problem. Until now, Java is still an option for investor to invest, but the government also offers land outside Java with attractive incentives," he said.
Hidayat said the capital inflow of Japanese investment is expected to attract thousands of jobs.
"The construction of the industrial area will improve people's life and create greater employment," he said. (T03/msw)
