JAKARTA: Foxconn Technology Group entailed the government to set up local brand to create an ecosystem-based information technology sector in the country.
Besides asking for the land and incentives, Minister of Industry MS Hidayat said Foxconn also entailed Indonesia to bring some local brand to sustain its production. "We will make the local brand as a superior product. What brand, we will just wait, "he said after break fasting at the residence of the minister, on Monday (7/30/2012).
This request was submitted by Foxconn to Indonesia when the government sent a delegation from Ministry of Industry and private sector in order to follow up investment plan of the Taiwan- based manufacturer's printed circuit board.
As an Original equipment manufacturer (OEM), Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) and the Independent Design Manufacturer (IDM), Foxconn manufacturer wants the country to be able to exploit its existence to support the provision of hardware.
Foxconn is expected to sustain the support of hardware requirements, while the manufacturers in Indonesia will be able to engage as a sales agent or to be software creator agent.
"Creative industries in information technology in Indonesia is able to grow with the expansion of Foxconn in Indonesia," said Budi Darmadi, Director General of High Technology -Based Industry at Ministry of Industry.
At the talk, he said, Foxconn will focus to manufacture various types of mobile phone products, Ebook, Computer Tablet and Smart TV. "The big target in Indonesia and Foxconn wants to create IT ecosystem in the country." (T03/msw)
