JAKARTA: The government admitted forest-use permit hampers nine projects listed in the Master Plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesia's Economic Development (MP3EI) with investment value of IDR300 trillion.

The nine projects are existed in Sumatera, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi, Indonesian Economic Development Committee Integration Division Head Wahyu Utomo said.

“The issue is related with the overlapping of mining area and production forest,” he said in the seminar entitled the Progress Report of Debottlenecking and MP3EI Implementation in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/8/2012).

From nine investors, he added, only two that are almost completing the facilitation of the issue, i.e. PT Bukit Asam and PT DH Energy.

The committee is currently trying to identify and facilitate the settlement of the issue by conducting a meeting with local government, investor, and other parties that are considered hampering the project.

“It will be settled up to ministerial level if stuck in local government level. In this case, of course, is coordinated with Ministry of Forestry. We just need to monitor its settlement and acceleration,” he added. (T06/TW)
