JAKARTA: Denso Corporation decided to make Indonesia as its production base for car air conditioner (AC) components by building a new manufacturer in Bekasi Fajar industrial area, Bekasi, West Java.
Bambang Wiyono, PT Denso Sales Indonesia’s Director, revealed said Denso said the company has prepared a 21 ha land in Bekasi Fajar for the manufacturer which will be producing electric components, starter, fuel system and integrated circuit unit (ICU) for vehicles.
“The development of the new manufacturer is in line with Toyota Motor and Daihatsu Motor’s business expansion in Indonesia in the near future. Later, Indonesia will be the biggest production base for main parts of Denso AC , outside Japan. It is a pride for Indonesia,” he said on Friday (27/7/2012).
He said the new AC manufacturer is predicted to spend an investment of IDR300 billion in first stage which will be built starting the end of this year.
The investment value will continue in line with the increasing need for the components amid the expansion of Toyota and Daihatsu in the domestic automotive industry.
The new manufacturer will be the Denso’s third production facility in Indonesia, after its two manufacturers in Sunter, North Jakarta, and in MM2100 industrial area, West Cikarang, Bekasi.
Currently, Sunter manufacturer produces spark plug, coil, auto censor, and radiator, while the Cikarang manufacturer produces thermal materials such as compressor and condenser, and filter, horn, and magneto.
If a third plant can be realized, said Bambang, Indonesia will be one of the Denso’s main production base outside Japan. In Southeast Asia, Denso has a plant in Thailand, but only produces several types of AC components.(T03/aph)
