Corporate bond issuance to reach IDR55 trillion this year

JAKARTA: PT Pemeringkat Efek Indonesia (Pefindo) predicts the issuance of corporate bonds in 2012 will reach IDR55 trillion following the settlement of a high number of corporate bond this year totaling IDR28 trillion.

President Director of Pefindo Ronald T Andi Kasim said the issuance projection is higher than the corporate issuance number last year which was IDR51 trillion.

“The bonds was IDR50 trillion and IDR5 trillion for medium term notes [MTN],” he said yesterday.

He explained the happening of corporate bond issuance was caused by a number of bond will be settled this year totaling between IDR25 trillion and IDR28 trillion.

According to him, until the first week of February, Pefindo has rated five corporate bonds with a total issuance of IDR10 trillion. “The sectors are multifinance and consumer product,’ he said.

Rating Director of Pefindo Salyadi Saputra said Pefindo is ready to rate all of state-owned companies as what have been requested by Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Dahlan Iskan.

“We have rated 22 companies. About five companies also have submitted a proposal to get rating,” he said.

Last year, Pefindo booked revenue of IDR37.85 billion or up 26% compared with the performance in 2010 as much as IDR29.99 billion.

The biggest contribution was posted by rating business with IDR36.6 billion, while share valuation business only contributed IDR1.14 billion. Training and publication business only donated IDR104 million. (T03/msw)
