JAKARTA: The sales volume of domestic car market reached 78,623 units in January, 6.27% higher than the realization in the same month a year earlier.

Automotive entrepreneur believes that the sales grew following a stable macroeconomic condition in early year and no changing in government’s policies that leads to business adversity in the sector.

Gradually, the automotive entrepreneur begins to fulfill demand for consumers who have not been well served at the end of last year.

“The stable business condition made the demand remains higher in early this year, which also increases the car sales,” First Chairman of (Gaikindo) Jongkie D. Sugiarto said yesterday.

Based on Bisnis’ data, the total wholesales grew 6.27% to 78,623 units in January from 73,987 units in the same month of 2010.

However, Thailand floods in July 2011 hampered the supply of Toyota car, which still imported (completely built up/CBU) from that country, particularly Vios Sedan, Yaris hatchback, and Hilux double cabin.

Fortunately, its sales for Honda Freed grew 35.75% to 1,481 units from 1,091 units in January 2011 in the first month this year
