JAKARTA: Canadian plane producer Bombardier Aerospace Commercial Aircraft appointed PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk subsidiary, PT GMF AeroAsia, as the Bombardier Authorized Service Facility (ASF) in Asia Pacific with airplane maintenance value worth US$2 billion.
The GMF AeroAsia designation as an Bombardier Authorized Services Facility (ASF), or an authorized Bombardier aircraft maintenance center, was marked by Letter of Intent (LoI) signing by PT GMF AeroAsia Director Richard Budihadianto and President of Bombardier Aerospace Commercial Aircraft Mike Arcamone.
The signing was witnessed by State Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan, Minister of Industry MS Hidayat, Deputy Transport Minister Bambang Susantono, and Garuda Indonesia Director Emirsyah Satar.
Hidayat said the partnership is aimed to establish Bombardier aircraft maintenance center through the GMF AeroAsia.
"We hope the partnership to build the maintenance center through GMF will provide a multiplier effect because it is expected to spur aircraft components and raw materials industry, improving expertise in aircraft," he said during the LoI singing in Garuda Management Building, Friday, June 8, 2012.
GMF AeroAsia CEO Richard Budihadianto said by the LoI signing, GMF AeroAsia is officially become the first Bombardier ASF in Asia Pacific and the sixth in the world.
GMF entitled to carry out the maintenance of CRJ Series Bombardier aircraft (700/900/1000) up to heavy maintenance phase which targeted to begin in mid-2014.
"The GMF AeroAsia – Bombardier partnership can increase GMF level in the global aircraft maintenance market," said Richard. (T07/TW)
