JAKARTA: The Indonesia batik export opportunity to several countries become more open following the increasing demand from foreign fashion designers.
Conservation field Head of Indonesia Batik Foundation, Komarudin Kudiya said the increasing number of overseas exhibitions opens bigger export opportunities. "We recently held an exhibition in the United States. The goal was not to sell, but to introduce batik," he told Bisnis, Thursday (9/8).
Komarudin said the export opportunity now come from the United States and Japan.
He added that he U.S. and Japan has chosen Indonesian batik producers to supply its needs by October. "The demand is for a fashion show in the summer. This is a breakthrough to increase exports," he said.
He said the increasingly national batik industry can be seen from the broad expansion of product marketing.
Komarudin gave an example that many batik producers in Trusmi, Cirebon, which are capable of supplying products up to the national level. (T07/aph)
