BATAM: Batam Concession Agency (BP BATAM) is currently forging partnerships in the development of special economic zones, as supported by the agreement between FTZ Batam with Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone (SEEPZ) in Mumbai, India.
According to Director of Public Relation BP Batam Dwi Djoko Wiwoho, it's the follow up for memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by Head of BP Batam Mustofa Widjaja together with Development Commissioner of SEEPZ Reshma Lakhani in India on January 5, 2011.
"We are cooperating for development of free trade zone between Batam and Santacruz SEZ India. Today, they visited Batam to review the free trade zone," he said after the meeting.
Delegations from SEEPZ SEZ India visited Batam Island on Wednesday (6/27/2012), consisting of SEEPZ SEZ Development Commissioner Reshma Lakhani, India's Trade and Industry Ministry Director Sanjeet Singh, SEEPZ SEZ Deputy Commissioner of Development PS Raman, experts and business people who are members of the SEEPZ SEZ Committee.
The meeting also aims to optimize available infrastructures and facilities to improve cooperation and other issues that appeals to both parties in various fields, including special economic zones, trading, investment, and preparation of agenda such as joint exhibition, market research and survey, and also seminar with ASSOCHAM and the existing industry confederation in both countries.
