10 Confirmed Dead in FOKKER Plane Crash

JAKARTA: Ten people killed as Indonesia military plane crashed into homes near Halim Perdanakusumah Airport.

Deputy Chief of Air Force Staff Marshall Dede Rusamsi confirmed 7 crew members and 3 civilians were killed when the Fokker 27 military plane crashed.

“Six crew members were killed on site, while one crew died in hospital at 18:30 p.m.,” he said in a press conference together with Vice President Boediono at the official residence of Vice President on Thursday night (6/21/2012).

There were seven crew members onboard the plane, i.e. pilot Maj. Hery Setiawan, co-pilot First Lt. Paulus, Second Lt. Syahroni, Capt. Agus Supriadi, Sgt. Maj. Sihmulato, Chief. Sgt. Wahyudi, and First Sgt. Purwo.

As for three civilian casualties included two children namely Brian, 6 years old, and Naflin, 2 years old, along with an unidentified house maid. Meanwhile, one woman known as Martina was seriously injured.

The Fokker 27 plane was in good condition and it still had 23 days of maintenance time.

“Pilot and copilot have sufficient flying experience and in good health. We will investigate the cause of the crash within three months,” he said. (T06/ra)
